Discipleship

Discipleship…I remember hearing this word a lot in the late70’s and early 90’s. My husband went to a ‘discipleship school’ in San Diego in the early 80’s.  The last decade I've seen more discipleship schools emerge. When I think of discipleship,  I think of small groups where training, equipping and mentoring takes place.  I  don’t think Sunday morning preaching is discipleship.   I

As we pray for revival, I wonder..if one hundred  people came to Christ this week in your church….are you ready to disciple them? Are you ready to mentor and stand alongside them? Some will come from broken homes and have addictions.  Are the local ‘church’congregations ready to ‘disciple/ train’ these?  It is not only the ‘new believers’ who need or desire discipleship, but even those who have been Christ followers for a long time. It’s going to take spiritual fathers and mothers who can help disciple. Isn’t this how Jesus did it? He spent day after day working with the twelve and occasionally he had a group talk to thousands (Sermon onthe Mount).

My prayer is that congregations in this valley will have a plan or strategy for when ‘revival’happens, because,  yes, I do believe it will.  God is releasing a generation or warriors who will need to be trained. This is one of the reasons why we have started Kingdom Living groups and International School of Ministry- to provide a place of discipleship, building relationships and a place to care and support one another. We are few in numbers..but If we all do our part in the Body of Christ..then we be able to handle the harvest that is coming.
